Finishing & Maintaining Show Horses
Whatever specific needs your horse may have, we are here to listen and tailor directly to those needs.
-
Breaking to Drive
Training horses and ponies to pull a cart. We start the process learning to long line in a solid fashion. We use the lines not only to guarantee efficient steering and stopping, but also to get the youngster (or non-cart-broke horse) used to pressure around his sides and hindquarters. After that, we will introduce the training shafts. When finally introduced to the cart, we work as a team to ensure the safety and comfort of all parties involved.

Colt Starting
Setting your young horse up for success. Teaching basics in a manner that promotes kind and good-thinking horses. Ground manners, tying, clipping bathing, trailering, standing for the farrier, lunging, long-lining, and breaking to ride and/or drive, etc.
-
Problem Horses
Retraining away from bad habits. Eradicating bad behavior. Reinforcing manners and good habits. Promoting happiness and comfort in your horse's work.

My Training Philosophy
I would like to believe that my horse training philosophy is the perfect mix of modern and traditional horsemanship. Working alongside an equine vet for years really allowed me insight into how a horse’s health and biomechanics can greatly affect their training. I am always going to put the horse and its physical and mental well-being first. I understand that some problems may be behavioral and need to be worked through, but oftentimes there is a health-related root cause to bad behavior. I pride myself on getting to the bottom of those root issues and on looking at the horse’s training from a very unique, holistic approach. My time riding and working for different trainers and within different disciplines has allowed me an open mind and a plethora of training and horsemanship knowledge to draw from. No one horse is exactly alike, and different training techniques can be beneficial for different horses. I draw a lot of inspiration from dressage specifically and use that daily in the training of my horses, but also while instructing my riding students.
I’d love to hear from you.
